Humanizing the Modern Planets: The Reawakened Feminine as Octave Transformers: JULY 2012

“Humanizing the Modern Planets: The Reawakened Feminine as Octave Transformers”
The inner developmental process of transformative change involves the transcendence of the personal ego to reach transpersonal awareness. Astrology offers a pathway from the individual to the transpersonal via the theory of planetary octaves. The higher octave outer planets, however, represent collective unconscious forces which remain difficult to integrate personally.
In this lecture we will explore how the asteroid archetypes act as octave transformers raising the vibrational energies of the personal, conscious, inner planets to the transpersonal, unconscious, outer planets. In this way the asteroids act as a bridge between the individual and the collective, and are thus symbolic resources for personal transformation and spiritual development.

Hygeia: DEC 2011

DEC 2011″Hygeia”

As our population grows older, maintaining our health becomes an important priority. Hygeia, the goddess of health and the fourth-largest asteroid, is associated with continuation of good health. Hygeia in the natal chart suggests how one can remain healthy and prevent sickness. In this lecture, we will explore how to use this goddess archetype to maintain a healthy mind in a healthy body.

The Black Sun: Astrology and Depression: NOV 2010

“The Black Sun: Astrology and Depression”

Although the birth chart does not mandate who will develop depression, astrological analysis can illuminate possible underlying causes. The first part of this lecture will examine depression as a psychiatric illness. Then causes and symptoms will be explored as they relate to celestial symbolism. With this foundation the last section of the lecture will look at astrological significators in the charts of people who have suffered from depression. Through these chart analyses ways of identifying the astrological-psychological complexes associated with depression will be highlighted.

Asteroid Goddesses and the Mystic Way: Models of Spiritual Transformation: JAN 2010

“Asteroid Goddesses and the Mystic Way: Models of Spiritual Transformation”

The urge for spiritual growth appears to be as old as man himself. This is evidenced by the development of various paths to spiritual enlightenment which have appeared in diverse cultures at different historical periods.

Within the distinct spiritual discipline of mysticism there exists a threefold path to divine consciousness: purgation – illumination – union. Recent developments in astrological thinking demonstrate that this threefold process of ontological change exists within the archetypes of the Asteroid Goddesses: Ceres, Vesta, Pallas and Juno.

This presentation will compare these similar archetypal paths to spiritual development. To demonstrate the transformative potential of the asteroid archetypes the lives of several mystics will be examined astrologically.

This presentation is adapted from Dr. Rodgers’ article published in The Astrological Journal’s Nov/Dec. ’09 issue.
