“The Chords of the Chart”
Anyone who has ever taken piano lessons or picked up a guitar knows that what you want to learn is chords; combinations of notes that allow you to play along with your favorite songs. Triads are basic chords made up of three notes that are the building blocks of more complex chords. And there are many kinds of chords; major, minor, diminished, augmented, 7ths, and each has its own feel and sound due to its specific harmonic arrangement.
When I look at a chart I see and feel a chord; the planets and luminaries representing a specific harmonic arrangement. Some chords are major, happy and complete; while others are minor and sad, or unresolved and dissonant. Because there are ten notes/planets in a chart it is almost always a complex combination of two or more chords. We all have a unique and specific chord that is our natal chart and learning to live in that chord – or tone – is one of the keys to how functional we will be in our life. This is what I am trying to do when I do an astrological consultation for someone. I will show you how I do this.
My talk combines astrological concepts, music, chart examples and some songs tossed in for good measure. Come and be informed and entertained by an astrologer/artist with a very unique approach to finding the truth that is inherent in every chart.
Jozef (Jotown) Slanda is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, astrologer and film maker (Gemini Midheaven and mutable angles). Jozef is from Detroit, Michigan and he has been in the entertainment industry for 35 years. He has been a professional astrologer since 1997. He has been involved in mixing music and astrology since 1977 when he played on the hit record “Float On” by the Floaters which used astrology in the lyrics. After working as a sideman for the likes of David Ruffin (The Temptations) The Floaters, The Detroit Emeralds, Chuck Jackson, Gwen McCrae and many others, he began a solo career in the mid 80’s and still is a full time entertainer/producer. Jozef recombined his twin interests of music and astrology in 2008 when he composed and performed the music for the astrology film “Return of the Magi” which debuted at the UAC conference in Denver, Colorado. Jozef sees a horoscope as a kind of musical expression and has always tried to help his clients find the “Key” or “Tone” of their chart and thus live in fuller Harmony with their true nature.
